🪔 Why the name “MySakhi”?
The old name pointed at one specific mala — the Radha 28 Naam Mala, twenty-eight names describing Radha Rani's divine qualities. That mala is still in the app. But the app itself had long outgrown a name that described only one of its malas.
The new name draws on the devotional essence of the sakhi-gopi. In Radha Krishna bhakti, a sakhi is one of Radha Rani's intimate companions — a gopi of Vrindavan whose service is not to be worshipped herself, but to nurture and delight in the love between Radha and Krishna. The sakhi's essence is companionship in devotion: present, attentive, and quietly encouraging.
That is the role the app's companion avatar takes for the devotee. Hence My Sakhi — a presence that accompanies your daily sadhana rather than instructing it. Much of the app's approach continues to follow the teachings of Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj, the Rasik saint of Vrindavan whose message centres on selfless love for Radha Krishna and continuous chanting of the Holy Name.
🆕 What is new in version 4.0.0
Beyond the rename, this release is the largest expansion the app has had. Five things are genuinely new:
- Sakhi AI — a 24/7 spiritual guide you can actually ask questions of, in five languages.
- Custom naam jaap creation — add any mantra or deity name, with its own bead count, audio, vibration, and streak.
- Likhit Japa — the ancient practice of writing the Divine Name, on a canvas that counts your strokes.
- The My Sakhi companion — a devotional avatar that responds to your practice as it deepens.
- Emergency Urge SOS Shield — one-tap tools for the difficult moments in a Brahmacharya practice.
The Brahmacharya tracker has also been rebuilt around the Ojas Fire Dial and six warrior ranks, and an 8D kirtan player and DND Sadhana Mode have been added.

🙏 A small note from the developer
Alongside the rename, the developer has shared the reasoning behind what is changing — worth reading if you have been using the app for a while:
This app is made with love to support your daily practice. As more people join us, the cost of servers and keeping everything reliable is growing too.
That is why we are adding an optional Pro subscription. If this app has helped you, your support will help us keep building it with care.
With Pro, you receive automatic cloud sync for your practice, an ad-free experience, 100 AI chat messages each month, and priority access to new features.
Our promise remains unchanged: Naam Jaap will always be completely free, and it will remain ad-free for everyone.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
In short: the naam jaap counter — the reason most devotees installed the app in the first place — stays free and ad-free. Pro is optional, and exists so that the server costs behind features like Sakhi AI and cloud sync can be sustained without putting the core practice behind a paywall.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Is MySakhi the same app as the Radha 28 Naam Jaap App?
Yes. MySakhi Radha Naam Jap Counter is the same app under a new name. It is the same Play Store listing and the same install, so it arrives as a regular update rather than a separate download.
Will I lose my jaap counts, streaks, or Brahmacharya progress after the rename?
No. Because this is the same app updating in place, your existing counts, malas, streaks, and tracker history carry over. The app is also offline-first with automatic cloud backup, so your jaap counts are not lost.
Why was the Radha 28 Naam Jaap App renamed to MySakhi?
The old name described one mala — the Radha 28 Naam Mala. The app has since grown well beyond that single mala to include custom mantras, Likhit Japa, a Brahmacharya tracker, and an AI spiritual companion. The new name reflects the sakhi: in Radha Krishna bhakti, a sakhi is one of Radha Rani's intimate gopi companions, and the app's companion avatar takes that role for the devotee.
What does MySakhi mean?
A sakhi is an intimate companion of Radha Rani — one of the gopis of Vrindavan whose service is to nurture Radha and Krishna's love. The devotional essence of the sakhi-gopi is companionship in bhakti, which is what the in-app avatar is modelled on: a presence that accompanies your daily sadhana.
Is MySakhi Radha Naam Jap Counter free?
Yes, the app is free to download and the naam jaap counter is free to use. The developer has said naam jaap will always remain completely free and ad-free for everyone. An optional Pro subscription is being added to help cover server and reliability costs.
What is new in version 4.0.0?
Version 4.0.0 introduces the MySakhi name along with Sakhi AI, custom naam jaap creation, Likhit Japa sacred name writing, the My Sakhi companion avatar, the Ojas Fire Dial and warrior ranks in the Brahmacharya tracker, the Emergency Urge SOS Shield, an 8D kirtan player, and DND Sadhana Mode.
What is Likhit Japa?
Likhit Japa is the traditional practice of writing the Divine Name rather than only speaking it. In MySakhi it works on a stroke-aware canvas that counts each written naam automatically, which many devotees find especially calming for a restless mind.
What is the Ojas Fire Dial and the Brahmacharya tracker?
The Brahmacharya and Tapasya tracker logs 10 daily vows such as Brahma Muhurta wakeup, satvik diet, cold bath, swadhyaya and yoga. The Ojas Fire Dial shows a real-time discipline score and tapasya points, with six warrior ranks from Aarambhik Sadhak to Ojasvi Brahmachari and a 7-day consistency heatmap.
What is Sakhi AI?
Sakhi AI is a built-in spiritual companion you can ask about bhakti, Bhagavad Gita shlokas, anxiety, habits, and daily struggles. Its answers are grounded in Vedic wisdom and saintly teachings, and it chats in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, and Marathi.
Does MySakhi work offline?
Yes. Every feature works fully offline so you can chant anywhere, and automatic cloud backup keeps your jaap counts safe when you are connected.
Can I count naam jaap without looking at the screen?
Yes. You can tap anywhere on the screen or use the volume buttons, which allows blind, effortless naam jap with your eyes closed. Temple bells and haptic vibration confirm each mala 108 cycle.
Which languages does MySakhi support?
Five languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, and Marathi. Sakhi AI also chats in all five.
Can I add my own mantra or deity name?
Yes. You can add any mantra or deity name of your choice, set custom bead counts, audio and vibration per mantra, and each custom naam jap keeps its own independent counts, streaks, and history.
